Am I the only one who thinks that it's our rights to ask for our money back from those who borrowed from us?
The problem people have with asking for their money back is that they are afraid of straining their relation with the other party. I've heard friends explaining that it's simply not right to chase people for money just because it would make you appear money-faced.
So does that mean it's actually right for people to borrow money and not return it?
Perhaps it's just me. But you, the lender, have just as much responsibility as the borrower to get back the money. Don't forget that it's YOUR money. If you don't give a shit about getting it back, why should anyone else care about returning you? I'm sure no one minds having the extra cash with them.
I'm not trying to say that the lender is wrong to loan out money. All I'm trying to put across here is this:
Both parties have to make an effort.
If you lend out money, make sure you get it back.
If you borrow money, PLEASE, make it your responsibility to return it. If people are kind enough to lend money to you, I don't see why it's so hard to return their kindness.
Don't dwell too much on the repercussions of asking back YOUR money. The money is yours. You have the rights to ask it back. Seriously, if a relation can be strained that easily, it's simply not worth the while for you to cherish it.
Be nice, not stupid.
