After what seemed like eons, I finally got to meet my best friend. Went to catch the kung-fu flick, Ip Man at GV Plaza with him. Boy, has GV Plaza changed! They are certainly making full usage of every single shop space.

Ip Man is about the story of Yip Man, a kung-fu master living in Fo Shan, the place where our beloved Huang Fei-Hung was said to reside in. This movie is said to have been adapted from the true life story of the grandmaster himself. It carries some unbelievable scenes, so it's up to you to pick out which parts of the stories are overly exaggerated and which parts are actually the truth in its entirety.

叶准 (Ip Man) being a low profile kungfu master, is forced to fight against ruffians and eventually a Japanese General. It feels great to see the guy deliver a million quick punches to his opponents, and the movie does carry some light humour here and there.

And the best thing about it? (SPOILER AHEAD)

The hero doesn't have to die.

Catch Ip Man in the theatres today.

I think I've been educated on the power of "No" all my life. Remember when you were in primary school and you were taught to say no to cigarettes and such?

Yes Man is a movie that does the total opposite. Carl (played by Jim Carrey), a man who does says no to life and everything else, is about to discover the power of saying Yes to opportunities that presents itself to him. Except that he takes it one step too far by agreeing to everything!

Laughter aside, this actually makes a meaningful flick as it makes you wonder how many a times people misinterpret a good advice and turns it into something else. Just because someone asks you to follow your heart doesn't mean it is right for you to kill. Beware of the dangers of blind obedience and misinterpretation. It can do you more harm than good.

Say Yes to life today... but do so at your own discretion, please.

In just a few more hours, she would be on the plane to Hainan Island...

It won't be until next year til I see her again.

I'll miss her.

This has been an extremely late post. Been rather preoccupied lately with Petsociety (totally addicted to it) and with my new N85 handphone (sweet!). Lousy excuses, yeah I know.

Anyways! Had the chance to catch two awesome movies last weekend with Raw, the smelly deadmeat. Heh heh. I love how she look in specs.

Oh yeah, on with the movies.

First up, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist! Another teen flick which touches on the issues of breakups, cheating ex-girlfriend and a band called Fluffy. It seems to me that almost everyone in the show has a band, which I am sure some of us here would have wanted to be in, at one point of our young adolescent live. I should know, since I fall right into that category! Drunk friends, rocking parties, a road trip in search the hottest band in town and a happy ending, what more can you ask for?

Next, we have Twilight, another one of those novels-turned-movies. I haven't read the book itself (as usual), but I think it is a pretty decent flick. Edward really has the "I want you as my meal but I want you as my girl as well" look. I'm not sure how the book went, but I think James, the evil vampire, died a little too fast. We need more stalking!

Well, enough about movies! I want to rant about the girl.

Man, it was just a few weeks ago that she returned from Malacca and now she's leaving for the island famous for it's chicken rice. How I wish I could just keep her at home. Then I can look at her all day long and disturb her.

But I think I would be required to purchase a number of insurances to pay for my medical fees.

Maybe I'll just tie her up.

Meh.

Just in case you didn't already know this, Quarantine is actually the American remake of the Spanish horror flick, REC.

Now that we have that cleared up, let's get it on.

This is basically another one of those zombie flicks where we have the bitters, the screamers and the doomed. Angela (Jennifer Carpenter), our reporter, who is doing a documentary of sorts on the firemen of Los Angeles gets entangled in a bloody mess when she follows them to an old apartment building where an old woman was reported to have been injured and in need of medical support. I never knew that firemen had to report to medical cases, but, meh.

The movie is mostly shot through the view of a camera, which tops up the fright level as your field of vision is greatly limited and you never know when the bitters would come chomping after you. No worries though, this camera view effect doesn't leave the viewers nauseated - but the blood and gore might though, if you are of the faint-hearted.

Overall, I would have to say that the horror factor of the show isn't actually quite up to standard. The whole scene of the movie leaves little for exploration, which explains it's rushed sequence right after the bitters started to surface. Angela's screaming seems a whole lot more horrifying than the zombies, believe me.

If you are looking for a good scare, you might want to try REC instead. Whatever the remake couldn't succeed in doing, the original just might. Quarantine should just be quarantined with the rest of the failed zombie flicks.

What do you get when you have a dog, a cat and a hamster working together?

Bolt, the movie of course.

Bolt, our cute, disillusioned, Hollywood canine who believes that his desinty is to protect his 'person'(that's how he calls his owner) with his genetically implanted super powers, goes on a wild adventure when he tries to go after his "kidnapped owner". However, our canine friend is about to find out that life isn't exactly what he thinks it to be...

After watching countless of Disney films, you should be pretty aware by now that there's got to be an underlying moral lying somewhere in the story. The moral behind this one? You don't need to be Underdog to save the day... if you can bark loud enough.

Ok, drop that last part.

I'd say that the movie itself is not bad overall, but it's kind of lacks the 'oohmph' to grab the audiences' attention for the whole duration of the show. The rendering's pretty and hey, with 3D thrown in, you can't really complain much. But it's a tad too draggy towards the middle of the film, with little action and too much talk.

A pity 3D glasses does not go well with my spectacles. I would have been able to enjoy the film better if I had contacts. Well, at least the smart kid was able to enjoy the movie. Maybe they ought to make 3D films a bit more friendly for the bespectacled. It's kind of hard to keep two glasses on at the same time.

It's that kind of feeling that makes you feel weird inside... like something is amissed.

Something tugging at you, telling you to take notice, but you can never quite put a finger to it.

And then, all of a sudden, you realise...

And you feel like smacking your forehead with your palm.

I'm so sorry my dear! I totally forgot to post this up (but I did send you an sms!)

Happy (belated) 5th Month-nniversary!

Fifth month! That's like... one month away from half a year.

Mighty long!

More to come! Maaaaany many more!

(p.s: Don't emo anymore! Your emo is scarier than my emo!)
