Don't you just hate it when you get bones in the chicken rice?
I'm not particularly picky about getting bones in my chicken rice, but when you go to a stall that reads "
BONELESS Chicken Rice", the least you would expect is to get a packet of... boneless chicken rice. It's not just one or two chicken bones. It's half a packet of it for crying out loud. You know you got an bone to pick (no pun intended) with the guy when you've been duped into being a victim of false advertising.
The thing that bugs me the most is the ENORMOUS text on the stall signboard. If you have to frickin' advertise in such big block letters that a person can see it from a mile away, the least you can do is to remove the damn bones. Isn't it common sense that your customer expects his chicken to be free of bones when you're advertising the awesome boneless quality of your product?
Stall signboards are like clues to what you might have for your next meal. It just ain't right for anyone to mess up the clues for you. What can a man trust if he can't even put faith in the innocent stall signboard?
I'll never trust them stall signboards again. Who knows, the next time you visit a stall that supposedly sells char kway teow, they might just sell you char mee, char bee hoon, or some other fried noodles other than char kway teow instead.
Never read a book by its cover. Never read a stall by its signboard.

Ahh... I finally gave up on making my own template. So I decided to surf the vast net for one instead.
Found a couple templates that I liked. But I finally settled for this.
Me like shiny.
Check out my new cbox. Had to get one because the narrow sidebar couldn't accomodate my old shoutbox. Ah well.
Oh yeah, got myself a new web counter too.
Whee.

Feel it, love it! Hongkong!!This was where I went for lunch today.
Not, it's not Hongkong. But it's the closest I could get with the limited budget I had. Or rather, what my parents had.
Welcome to Xin Wang CafeSituated in Kovan, this cosy little cafe exudes an ambience of class and elegance. And let me tell you, ambience doesn't come cheap.
Anyone need a map of Hongkong? This was where I satHere's a sneak peek at the menu.
What's a Hongkong cafe to do without its dim sum?*in HK accent* Protein very important! And this was what I had for lunch.
Fish and chicken congee : $6.90 each.Fried noodle, Macau style : $6.90Ice milo dinosaur : $2.90And now for the side dishes.
(clockwise from extreme left) Siew mai, har gow, chicken feet : $2.50 each(from left to right) Shrimp rolls wrapped in beancurd skin, sesame balls : $2.50, $2.20 respectivelyThe whole chicken bowl and metal cup thing made me feel very kampong-ish. Which is good, since it's kinda unique. The food was a letdown though. If I had wanted to eat instant noodle with luncheon meat, I would have done it at home. Seriously.
The aftermath:
Fried Noodle 'Macau Style' : 6.90
Spaghetti (yes, they do serve western cuisines) : 8.90
Ying Yong Tea x2 : 2.50 x2
Prawn Paste Chicken : 6.90
Shrimp Rolls in Beancurd Skin : 2.50
Chicken Feet x2 : 2.50 x2
Total: a whooping 77.40 (incl. 10% svc charge and GST)
I was filled to the brim with the food, but definitely not with glee. And that my friend, is the price to pay for the ambience. I'll recommend eating here only if you have the money to spare and need a place to chill.
If you're in for the food, don't bother. You're better off elsewhere.

Yesterday was the day.
3/4 of my friends have gone in for army. Yesterday was the day where my last batch of June intake friends who went in for National Service.
MSN would never be the same again.
I'm so used to seeing people online that it just feels kinda weird to see my msn list full of OFFLINers.
I guess it's about time for me to start changing my lifestyle. Things will never be the same after NS. And that means people are gonna change.
Good bye procrastination. We've been together for as long as I could remember, but I really have to leave you now. You know how much I love you, but, it's just not meant to be. Maybe we can still get together sometimes.
Or maybe I should just get a restraining order.

It's kinda fun to take ultra long breaks from your own blog. I enjoy the process of necromancing a dead blog.
Things have been really slow in my life. Nothing much is happening for me... yet. My other friends are getting in for NS one by one while I sit at home, rotting my ass off.
Fun.
I think I should try and do something more productive soon. Like... getting to whatever I had planned to do. Thinking about them just makes me tired. Or it could be the lack of exercise that's making me feel tired easily.
Meh. Time to burn some rubber in Need for Speed.
