I finally got a chance to catch "I Am Legend" on the big screen.
I love it. I've been hearing mixed reviews on the movie, but I decided to take the chance anyways. Seems that majority of the people have a problem with the movie's ending.
Me? I personally think that the ending is perfect. There's an impact in the ending that pushes the hidden message of the movie forward. The movie left me thinking.
Robert Neville (Will Smith) had to die to protect the cure that he had dedicated his life to. The whole movie perches on the idea of how a person can make a difference while he is alive, the sacrifices that one has to make in order to achieve the greater good, and it also tells viewers that you are not alone out there in this vast world.
We may be surrounded by "Dark Seekers", people who are out to get you every single day, but it is important to know that you are not alone in this. Death is not the way out of it. Even if we know that we will have to die at the end of the day, we must not despair. There is a point in living and it is up to us to find our direction in life.
Exactly how much would you sacrifice in order to protect your ideals? In order to achieve the greater good? A single man can only achieve this much, but if he tries hard enough, the result is unimaginable.
What makes a legend?
