Look at the mirror and ask yourself this: Who am I?
Are we who we really think we are? If we act a certain way long enough, will we become who we act like? Are we a victim of circumstance? Do we control the environment or does the environment control us?
Questions questions questions, and no answers.
Are you someone who conforms the the rules of society? A person who obeys the higher authority? Me? I've been taught to obey rules my whole life, and I admit that I am a person who obeys the rules given to me. But given the circumstance of life and death, whereby obedience might lead to the death of another, would you think of rebelling against a command?
The Stanford Prison Experiment unveils some of the answers to the questions that I posed above. It is a very interesting psychology study. It shows the weakness of human nature and how vulnerable we are to the pressure around us.
You can read up on the study at http://www.prisonexp.org/. For your convenience, I have also posted the videos of the experiment on the blog. Enjoy.
