How many of you here agree with me that the mind and the body must co-exist side by side?
Many a times, we neglect one to concentrate on the other. A healthy body helps to constitute a healthy mind. One who is sick all the time would of no doubt find it hard to concentrate on his train of thoughts.
To be frank, I am a major lazy bum. I have a lazy body and a lazy mind. Before army, I was often lethargic and all I wanted to do was to laze around all day and take naps and surf the web mindlessly. But the army's routine life helped to instill a discipline routine for my body. I learned to exercise. What it did not help me to accomplish however, was my idle and lazy mind.
When you are in a non-commanding post, you don't really have to rack your brains at all. AS if it wasn't idle enough in the first place, now it takes much more determination for me to have it jump-started.
Exercising is still a hard thing for a lazybone like me. But I managed to convince myself of the importance of strength to protect the ones I love. What I failed to see was I was slowly becoming a brute.
A man who possesses strength but is without wisdom or knowledge can be nothing more than a brute. I tried hard to keep my fitness but I failed to keep a balance between my mind and body. What good is it to have a healthy body that has no mind to harbour?
Prelims will be here in less than two weeks and I have yet to hit the books. I need to get my mind up and running.
I will not be a brute.
